Office Hours: Formal office hours (2hrs/week) will be scheduled on a weekly basis once we are settled in Japan.  In addition, the 6-8 average hours of weekly excursions will also afford ample opportunity to discuss your interests and questions.

Weekly Critical Analysis (CA) and Discussion Board (DB) Assignments:

To succeed in this GS program, you must complete all reading assignments in a timely manner.  Weekly content analysis and discussion board assignments will assess your critical knowledge of the readings and your ability to synthesize the scholarly content of the courses with the experiential component of the program.

  • Each week (except for week 5), you will be assigned a CA Prompt by the instructor.  The CA Prompts will be posted in a designated module on the course Canvas page. The submission of your completed work will be processed through the Turnitin.com academic integrity software before being assessed by the instructor
  • The length of each week’s CA response should be 800-1000 words
  • In addition to the CA prompts, there will be a weekly (except for week 5) discussion board/forum activity located on our course Canvas page under “Discussion Board” module. There will be no specific prompt for the DB assignment, but the general focus for your weekly DB submission should always be on drawing connections between the assigned readings and your experience from the excursions each week (In general, the schedules for excursions are intended to coincide with the content of the weekly readings)
  • The length of each week’s DB submission should be 200-300 words
