Technical Requirements

The minimum technical requirements are listed below. You will need to ensure you have these minimum requirements in order to access all of the required digital materials for this course.

If you are not able to acquire these technical requirements or do not have access, please contact me as soon as possible.

  • Use a computer 5 years old or newer when possible
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 2GHz processor

Screen Readers

  • Macintosh: VoiceOver (Links to an external site.)(latest version for Safari)
  • PC: JAWS (Links to an external site.)(latest version for Firefox)
  • PC: NVDA (Links to an external site.)(latest version for Firefox)
  • There is no screen reader support for Canvas in Chrome

 

Lecture Video Specs

This course uses Kaltura Media to host and embed all course lecture videos.

SAFARI  & CHROME USERS:

If you are using Safari or Chrome to watch your lecture videos, you may see an error message like the one below when accessing a course lecture video. Follow the instructions on the page and click the link to kaltura.com. Once you visit the link, you can refresh the page and you'll be able to view the videos.

 

Zoom Specs

This course uses Zoom, video conferencing tool that is integrated with Canvas. UC San Diego offers free Zoom accounts for all students.

Test your setup beforehand

Try the Test Meeting Links to an external site. feature to make sure your software and audio is set up.

Find the Zoom meeting link for your class

If the meeting is scheduled via Canvas, the Zoom meeting link is

      • In the Zoom link located in the left-hand navigation menu
      • In the Course Calendar, as an event
      • In a Canvas event notification (in your email if notifications are on)

Otherwise, this information will be provided by your instructor or TA, so be sure to check in with them if you're not sure what your Zoom meeting link is.
