Final Project Proposal Peer Review
Due Thursday August 26, 2021 at Midnight
All Peer Reviews are Anonymous & Pairings are Random
The goal of this assignment is for every student to hear from a peer about what they are doing well, what parts of their project may be unclear, and where they have areas to grow in their thinking. Producing peer feedback can help you develop critical thinking skills and learn how to make and communicate evaluative judgements clearly and generously. Receiving peer feedback can enable you to reflect on things you might not have thought about.
Step 1: Please carefully read the final project proposal that you have been asked to peer review. Do not view/watch the author’s chosen representation yet! If you have already seen the representation, do not look at it again until instructed.
Step 2: Please write answers for the following prompts.
Organization:
- Did the proposal contain all the required sections (representation, description paragraph, interest paragraph, and tool/concept proposal)? If not, what was missing?
Description:
- Based on the description paragraph (without looking at the representation), summarize in 1-2 sentences what your peer is proposing to analyze.
Return to or watch the provided representation:
- Based on what you watched, does the description paragraph accurately convey all the significant elements of the representation? Why or why not? Some details to consider are: genre/form, text, color, size, layout, sound (if relevant), plot (if relevant), characters, etc.
- What parts of the description are strongest? Are there any areas where your peer could expand their description? Imagine they need to describe this representation to someone who cannot see it.
Interest Paragraph:
- What is your favorite part of this paragraph?
Tool/Concept Proposal:
- What tool or concept from this class is your peer proposing to use to analyze their chosen representation?
- How do they define this tool or concept? What is their source?
- Do you think this definition is clear? Why or why not?
- According to your peer, how will this tool or concept help them understand their representation?
- Do you think this tool/concept is useful for understanding this representation? Why or why not?
- Is there another concept you would recommend your peer consider for their analysis? If so, which one and why?
Optional:
12. Do you have any other questions for the author?
