Instructions

This is a final exam for CSE30 Spring 2021.

Edstem will be enabled for only private posts to the staff during the 24 hour final window. You may post exam issues to Edstem for the staff. We will not answer questions related to the exam, but will consider your information when grading the exam.

Make sure to read all directions CAREFULLY. Then READ THEM AGAIN. Pay particular attention to the format of the answer we require.  For example if we ask for a number, you should enter solely a number, such as "12" and not "12 bytes".  If we ask for a hex number with 8 digits and all lower case, make sure to have 8 digits (e.g. 0x0021abcd is an 8-digit hex number). Answers that are improperly formatted will be marked incorrect by Canvas and may not receive credit.

The exam is open note and open internet but must be completed alone. YOU MUST NOT talk or communicate with anyone during the exam. You should do the exam, as practicable, in a quiet distraction free place.

Some reminders:

  • No text, voice, or other communication during the exam is allowed.

  • No searching or using sites such as Chegg.

  • No posting, emailing, copying or texting of exam content, no screen shots or saving of the exam material.

  • Do not discuss the exam with others during the 24 hour period. It's unfair to other students to tell someone what was on the exam or whether it was easy, hard, etc.

Edstem will be enabled for only private posts to the staff during the 24 hour quiz window. You may post exam issues to Edstem for the staff. We will not answer questions related to the exam, but will consider your information when grading the exam.

You might find the use of a hexadecimal calculator useful (e.g. https://www.calculator.net/hex-calculator.html, or the one built into your computer).

Unless stated otherwise, all ints are 32-bits wide, all shorts are 16 bits, floats are 32 bits and doubles are 64 bits.

This exam consists of 25 questions + the academic integrity questions.  Question 25 is a programming question.
